This week has been a bit mediocre to say the least. I am currently going through a new life change. The year has felt like a year of perpetual change (exaggerating but that is how I feel). I am learning that I tend to get on with life's changes without realising how it's affecting me.
Change is a good thing though right?
Change is how God guides us to where he wants us, into who he wants us to become, into the lives of the people we impact. A part of change is also learning new things. As God guides us into a new place or season of life there is something new to be learned.
A week ago, I felt the need to try a new hobby, I had not expressed myself creatively for a while . I signed up for a pyrography workshop and it turned out to be the coolest thing I had done in a while. As I sat burning away at the wood with the tool in my hand, I felt my world had almost come to a still. I wasn't thinking about the big changes happening around me .
I was still and mindful, I was present.
Those few hours of being mindful and creative meant a lot to me. I came out of the workshop feeling lighter. Dealing or going through change can demanding and heavy. I wonder whether God sometimes takes His time with us during a season of transition . There are times where change feels long and arduous and we just want it done and over with. Truth is we're probably not ready and God needs work in us still. If we submit to God and allow Him to work in us during transition we begin to see things working out for our good. Life feels less draining because we are striving less and He takes on the load. I like to compare the changes in life to the 4 seasons. If we allow God to drive the changes things flow easy, winter comes at the right time, new buds form in spring, followed but the lushness and greenery of summer and then autumn .
Surrender and let God guide you through all the changing scenes of life and you will be exactly where you need to be.
'' And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season.''
Psalm 1:3
