Lately I have been thinking of what it means to 'delight' in the Lord after reading Psalm 37 v 4
The dictionary defines delight as a high degree of gratification or pleasure and also an extreme satisfaction.
My thoughts after reading through the definition is to make the Lord my ultimate source of gratification, joy, pleasure and satisfaction.
The most used word in the first 9 verses of Psalm 37 is 'fret'. The writer David says 'fret not' meaning worry not.
I am realising it is impossible to fully delight in someone or something when ones mind is in worry.
David is saying delight in the Lord instead of worrying. I must admit even as I sit here typing away I find this verse difficult to believe and yet alone achieve.
How does one stop worrying and start delighting?
Well think the answers can be found in verse 3 and verse 5
Verse 3 says to trust in the Lord and verse 5 says commit your way to the Lord.
Trust, delight and commit.
First trust in the Lord. Trust in His faithfulness, His goodness & His character.
Then delight in the Lord. Enjoy the Lord, find pleasure and satisfaction in who He is not who you are or not in the world. As you delight in Him his desires become yours because you trust Him. You delight in doing His will and not yours.
Then commit to Him. Commit your entire life to Him. Surrender everything to Him and watch him work in your life. Commit to delighting and trusting in Him forever.

Psalm 37 v 4
Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.
